Attention Attire creates unique, handmade outerwear from upcycled camping gear salvaged from Irish music festivals. Our brand is bold, striking, individual and fun. We were bored by the rain jackets available on the market and wanted to do something different. Having worked at festivals for many years, we were saddened by the wasteful practice of leaving camping gear behind at festivals – an estimated 600 tonnes goes to landfill from festival campsites in Ireland every single year. We created the brand so people could have the opportunity to buy and wear something really different, and to really get people talking about an important issue.
We salvage from campsites at all of the major summer festivals on the Irish calendar, hand-picking the bold prints and the best colours, and trying to use broken tents that would otherwise be going straight to landfill. All materials undergo a rigorous cleaning process before being reimagined into something new. Each garment is made to order, ensuring reduced waste and attention to detail. This isn’t fast fashion, this is forward thinking fashion. Especially for the Christmas Flea this year, we have extended our collection to include a range of accessories which will be available to buy. Garments from our collection will be available to try, and to order in time for Christmas too.
Attention Attire is the brainchild of Megan Best (Ops Manager, Body&Soul, studying an MSc in Environmental Sustainability) and the creative genius of Debbs Tormey (Fashion Design NCAD). We teamed up to create our striking and unusual designs and launched Attention Attire in April, 2017. We are both studying and working in Dublin.
