GROWN was founded by three firefighters who specialise in creating ethical clothing inspired by the sea. Stephen, Damien and Neil spent a lot of down time in the sea around Ireland. Before they joined the Dublin Fire Brigade they worked in graphic designer, retail consultancy and sustainable development, a combination of skills which really helped when starting GROWN.
On our trips out to the west coast of Ireland we discussed how we weren’t happy with the brands of clothing we where wearing, what they stood for and how they where made. Our intentions weren’t to start a clothing brand but just to design enough to wear ourselves. At first we couldn’t find the supply chain we could stand over and after years of research and development we found what we where looking for. We now only use fully organic fibres, designed and styled in Ireland and made in fare trade factories powered by wind and solar power.
In 2016 they launched GROWN which they didn’t want to be just another clothing brand, they set out to create a challenger brand.
A brand that challenges people to create change, We believe the power to create change is in the hands of the consumer, so its down to the creatives and brands of the world to inform the public of options on how to stop fast fashion and how to protect our planet especially from ocean plastics.
At GROWN, we believe we have an environment that deserves our respect, so we work with a goal to make it better. As such, we run a tree4tee campaign where one indigenous Irish tree will be planted for each piece we create. To date we have planted over 1000 trees. Also, We are the only clothing brand in Ireland to have the 1% for the planet logo – As part of the Lets SEA change campaign and percentage of our profits will be going towards ocean conservation and mammal conservation, beach cleans. Thanks to our recent campaigns we won the small green company of the year and also picked up green product of the year something we are very proud of.
GROWN will sell T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, shirts and tote bags at the Christmas Flea.
