When friends of 30 years Jane and Heather stumbled across beautiful vintage kantha quilts from India, it was love at first sight and Shabbie was born. Originally from London and with a shared love of all things quirky and eclectic Jane and Heather decided to go into business together and they now sell their unique quilts, cushions and throws in both Belfast and Dublin
Vintage quilts arrive from India often looking a little tired and the worse for wear. At Shabbie they are washed, tidied, patched where necessary and those that are beyond repair are made into beautiful mini throws, cushions and bolsters. For Shabbie it’s all about seeing the potential and unique beauty in something that has perhaps seen better days and giving it a new lease of life.
At this years Christmas Flea both Jane and Heather will be on hand over two weekends to talk you through finding that unique and beautiful Christmas gift for someone special. From hand made patchwork bedspreads to vintage throws, rugs and handmade cushions and for those looking for smaller gifts Shabbie will also have a large selection of colourful cosy socks, perfect for stocking fillers.
